This is part 2 of 3 in the “Take a Quantum Leap, Attain the Unattainable” article series. I recommend reading article 1 first, if you have not already done so.
As you continue down your road towards your Quantum Leap remember, it’s not hard, but it will require that you change the way you think and operate now. It will feel unnatural at first, but it will become more natural as you progress and the results far outweigh the effort required along the way.

Live Your Dreams – Take a Quantum Leap
Focus On The Destination, Not The Journey
To achieve a Quantum Leap you must unlock your inner child. Have you ever seen a baby that is so focused on getting a hold of an object they want? They do not let the constant “No’s” and constant redirection from their parents deter them from getting what they want. When a child first learns to walk, how many times do you think they fall? I don’t think anyone has ever counted, but it’s a lot! The point is that they don’t give up just because they fall! They never focus on how to get something they want, or the physics of walking. They only focus on the destination, the journey is a process, which evolves as they get closer to their goal. As we age, we seem to slowly reverse our thought process. We no longer set our focus on what we want, without first considering how we plan to get there. As adults we are so often worried if we have what it takes to achieve our dreams. This is what holds back so many want to be entrepreneurs, they have a dream, but do not think they have the skill set to get there. So what they end up doing is focusing on what skills they believe they have, and cater their goals to meet into this skill set. This is merely a trap that your doubts and fears lead you to. Thinking like this will sabotage your journey in taking a Quantum Leap.
“People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.” – Earl Nightingale
When taking a Quantum Leap you need to be laser focused on your goal. Forget about the “how” and just go get it! Remember you will fall, but just like a child learning to walk, you need to get back up and take one more step towards your destination.
Learn To Depend On Your Subconscious
Most of us have heard of our subconscious, we have probably referred to it many times in our lives, but have you ever tapped into it’s potential? To unlock the power of your subconscious, you must first understand what it is. So what is it? If you Google “Subconscious” here is the meaning – “of or concerning the part of the mind of which one is not fully aware, but which influences one’s actions and feelings.” The definition alone should peak your interest enough to want to unlock this hidden influence within yourself. Think of it like your smart phone, how many tools do you use on your smartphone, that you could not live without today? Tools that make you more productive. If you have not yet unlocked your subconscious, it would be like carrying around your smartphone with a dead battery. Unlocking your subconscious can be as easy as charging up the battery on your smartphone every night, but know that you will have to continually “charge it” back up.
“A suggestion has no power in and of itself. Its power arises from the fact that you accept it mentally.”
― Joseph Murphy, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
Medical research and numerous studies have proven the power of your subconscious, however so many of us still doubt it. Don’t worry, remember its in the meaning “the art of the mind which one is not fully aware”, just know that it’s possible to tap into this mega-power inside yourself, and be open to the process. You can start the process by taking the time to write down clear, direct and very descriptive goals. I wrote a whole article on this topic if you are interested in reading more. Your subconscious needs to know how to influence you in the right direction, it needs to lead you down the path of your Quantum Leap. You need to paint yourself a mental picture of achieving a Quantum Leap. Envision yourself having made your Quantum Leap for a minute. Think about how you would feel like, what would the new you represent, how would you act, look and sound? The more specific you can get on this feeling, and the more vivid of a picture you can paint in your mind, the more in tune you will be with letting your subconscious mind get to work. Paint a picture for your mind using all 5 of your senses (Sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) and your sixth sense will be unlocked. Remember to recharge your subconscious battery daily, envisioning what you just pictured yourself to be like, having made your Quantum Leap. Remember to be patient, your subconscious will work like a snowball rolling down a mountain, it will be slow at gaining momentum. However once it gets going the force and potential behind it are unlimited.
Be Willing To Take New Risks
As you should already know, to achieve anything great you must take risks. Taking risk is initially a scary thought to most. What if you could just focus on taking different risks, not larger risks? That thought is more logical and comforting than taking huge risks. You are able to take a Quantum Leap without putting yourself in jeopardy. Although taking risks can make you feel vulnerable, you need to know that taking calculated risks will get you to where you want to be.
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far it is possible to go.”— T.S. Eliot
Think back to the scenario of a baby learning to walk. They one day realize they can stand up, they begin to move around supporting themselves with different objects. They do not think about the risk of falling and hurting themselves. Instead they focus on progression and the destination. A baby will bump their head a few times learning to walk, but this will not stop them from achieving what they want. Playing things safe will get you no where in achieving your Quantum Leap. Understand that just because it is unknown, does not make it dangerous. How do you know what you are capable of, if you are not willing to try? Fear of pain and failure will hold you back from making your Quantum Leap. Stop coming up with reasons why you can’t, and redirect that energy towards believing you can. If you are not open to taking new risks, you open yourself up to missing great opportunities in your life. Once you begin to take risks, you will be less weary of taking more risks, this is key in taking your Quantum Leap. The only limits you have are determined by what you are willing to take a shot at. If you never challenge your doubts, you will never overcome them and grow. Be willing to take new risks and open yourself up to the possibility of a Quantum Leap. Think of this, the only way you can guarantee failure is to never try.
Take Action, Now!
The entire basis of a Quantum Leap revolves around you taking action, and there is no better time to start taking action then now! You have learned about the power of thought, however even more powerful is action.
“A year from now, you will wish you had started today” – Karen Lamb
If you are waiting for something to be completed, or setting a start date, why not make it sooner. You don’t have to know every step that you’re going to take along the way to get started today. When a NFL quarterback yells “hike”, he does not know what the defense’s plan is. However the only way he is going to find out is to get the play in motion. It’s time to get off the sidelines, get in the game, and set out on your destiny. Once you get your plan in motion, you are going to start to learn things about yourself and how to achieve better results. Just as a quarterback reacts to the defense once the ball is hiked, you will need to learn to adapt to your obstacles, and progress forward. Thinking, planning and dreaming can only get you so far. Action is what will get you closer to achieving everything you want in life. When you start taking action, you will realize how easy it is to progress, the momentum will build, and you will become an unstoppable force within yourself. Taking a Quantum Leap requires massive action, so what are you waiting for?
Don’t Fear Failure
We all think of failure as such a negative term, however there is a way to make every situation positive. Mistakes are part of the process in your Quantum Leap. You can never learn without failure. Part of progression is finding out what works, whats more powerful is when you discover what does not work, then avoid it at all costs in the future. This does not mean you should be on a mission to make mistakes, rather be open to them and know they are coming. If you expect mistakes along the way they will not stunt your growth in a way they would if you were caught off guard by them. There are 4 rules that apply for your Quantum Leap strategy and failure:
1) Take action, and move closer towards your goals daily.
2) Push yourself until you discover your limits.
3) When you fall, pick yourself back up.
4) Repeat.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
If you do not have any problems, it’s probably because you are settling into a comfort zone. A sure sign of progress is when you have obstacles to overcome. If you never push yourself to the point of failure, you will never realize what you are really capable of in life. So start today, take action, and be prepared for the failures that will move you closer to the you of your dreams!
